Peter Lamb was born December 20, 1865, near Aud and died Sept. 7, 1932 at Canton, Ohio. About thirteen years ago he was married to Miss Mary S. Willian. This union was blessed with four children - three sons and one daughter. Mr. Lamb had been employed in Canton for several years. His death was due to a heart attack and came as severe shock to his many relatives and friends. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and four children of Canton, one sister, Mrs. Edward Latham of Jefferson City; five brothers - James, John, William, Nich and Pat, all of Aud.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 10, and he was laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery at Canton, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife and 6 children. They are; Miss Nellie of St. Louis, Mrs. Paul Lubensky of Marshall, Mrs. Frank Miller of Clayton, New Mexico; Boyd and Russell of Aud, and Mrs. Walter Robinson of Hermann. Also left behind are 19 grandchildren.

General Notes: Mrs. Rose Ocheskey (nee Lamb) died at her home near Aud Friday March 29th, after a four week's illness of typhoid fever. All the tender hands and medical skill could accomplish were unavailing to control the disease. Thus she fought the good battle to the end, and her Saviour called her to a better home.Her husband, Henry Ocheskey and one child preceded her to the grave. She leaves three sons, seven brothers and one sister and a host of other relatives and friends who deeply mourn their loss.Sunday afternoon a vast concourse of friends and relative sassembled at St. Ignatius Church at Bailey's Creek to pay theirlast tribute of respect. Funeral services were conducted by Reverand Huelsmann, who delivered a thoughtful and impressive discourse after which the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery. General Notes: Sister Jane Marie, the former Hada Faye Lamb, was born in Aud, Mo., on Aug. 24, 1936, the daughter of James Earl and Hada Mantle Lamb. She entered the congregation on Sept. 8, 1954 and professed her religious vows on June 13, 1957.
Sister Jane Marie was a 1961 graduate of St. John's Hospital School of Nursing. She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from St. Louis University and a master of arts degree from Sangamon State University. She served the community as a registered nurse and pastoral care associate at hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin. She founded the SHARE program to work with parents who lost children to miscarriage or premature birth. She worked in parish ministry, and served her religious community as vocation directress, directress of novices and coordinator of the Hospital Sisters Lay Associate Program. From 1999 until 2003, Sister Jane Marie was a member of the Provincial Council. At the time of her death, she was a volunteer at the Carol Jo Vecchie Women and Children's Center at St. John's Hospital.

General Notes: Frank Ocheskey, 73, a former Osage County resident, died at his home at High Ridge June 19 of a heart attack.He was born April 22, 1895 at Aud, Mo., the son of the late Henry and Rose Lamb Ocheskey. In 1929 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Kline of St. Louis. She survives. Other survivors include, a daughter Elaine (Mrs. Jule Petry), and four grandchildren; two brothers, Henry and Pete of San Francisco, California. Mr. Ocheskey was a World War I veteran. He taught in the rural schools of Osage County and in South Dakota. He was a postal clerk in St. Louis a number of years before retiring. 77. Sterling Edward Giesing (Jane P. Townley 5, Alice Coughlin 4, James 3, Owen 2, James 1) was born on 18 April 1910 in Chamois, Missouri, died on 20 January 1972 in Union, Franklin County, Missouri at age 61, and was buried on 22 January 1972 in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Union, Franklin County, Missouri. The cause of his death was from a heart attack at 5:20 a.m.
General Notes: He attended the Catholic school at Chamois, Missouri. Sterling and his brothers used to jump on to the train to get to school. He wanted to be a professional ball player, but he was hit by a car when he was young and broke his arm, which didn't heal right.
When Sterling was young he worked on the Missouri River building dikes. Later he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was in a camp on which is now CCC Camp road in the north part of Union, Missouri. The men planted trees in Franklin County. At this time he met Irene Hobelmann.
After his marriage he worked at various jobs. He worked on a farm, shoe factory, and during World War 2 he worked at the ammunition plant in St. Louis, Missouri and as a guard on Lock & Dam #25 on the Mississippi River near Winfield & Foley, Missouri. He was working as a shoe leather cutter at Wolff Shoe Co. in Union, Missouri at the time of his death.
Sterling belonged to the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. His pastime hobbies were playing his violin and guitar. Also he kept track of the high and low temperature of each day for years, a habit picked up from his days working on the River.
Sterling Edward married Irene Dorothy Hobelmann, daughter of Martin Bernard Hobelmann and Hallie Helen Doerr, on 10 April 1937 in Immaculate Conception Church in Union, Missouri by Rev. Hubert Pfeil. Irene Dorothy was born on 1 July 1915 in Union, Franklin County, Missouri, died on 23 March 2003 at age 87, and was buried on 25 March 2003 in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Union, Franklin County, Missouri. The cause of her death was from breast and brain cancer.
General Notes: She played the saxophone and piano. She did very well at school. Irene spent most of her life working at Bourbeuse Shoe and then Brown Shoe Co. She sewed the upper parts of ladies shoes. Irene was Secretary of the Shoe Workers Union.

She was born July 1, 1915, at Union, the daughter of Martin Hobelmann and his wife Hallie, nee Doerr. Mrs. Dunakin received her education in Union at Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Union High School in 1933. In 1937 she was united in marriage to Sterling Giesing at Immaculate Conception Church, Union. He preceded her in death in January 1972. In June of 1977, she was united in marriage to George Dunakin. He preceded her in death in January 2002. Mrs. Dunakin had been employed at Brown Shoe Company as a stitcher and retired in 1980 after working there over 40 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Daughters of Isabella, the Western Catholic Union and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Hobelmann; her sister-in-law, Louise Hobelmann; one daughter-in-law, Janice Giesing; and one son-in-law, Kim Hill. Mrs. Dunakin is survived by two sons, Martin Giesing and Richard Giesing, both of Union; one daughter, Mary Hill, Le High Acres, Florida.; one stepdaughter, Brenda Smith, Portland, Ore.; one stepson, George Dunakin, Springfield; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six step grand children; other relatives and many friends. A funeral Mass was held Tuesday, March 25, at Immaculate Conception Church, Union, with the Rev. Matthew Mitas officiating. Interment was in the Immaculate Conception Church cemetery. Memorials to the County Seat Senior Center Building Fund or Masses are preferred. The Dunakin family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, MO.

A daughter of Edward and Jane Townley Giesing, Mrs. Budnik was born Jan. 16, 1914 at Chamois. On Oct. 12, 1937, at Chamois, she was married to Albert J. Budnik, who survives. Mrs. Budnik was a member of the Assumption Catholic church and the ladies sodality, and the extension club of the Morrison-Chamois area. She spent most of her life in the Chamois and Morrison communities.
Survivors besides her husband are three daughters, Sister Mary E. Budnik, Cottleville; Mrs. Bernard (Alberta) Talken, Grandview; and Mrs. Randy (Barbara) Rhodes, Kingdom City; five sons - Joe, Tyler, Texas; Lee, St. Thomas; Norman, Hermann; Ronald, St. Charles; and Leslie, Linn.

William Edward Giesing, Sr., 50, Jefferson City, died Thursday, March 25, 1976, at the Harry S Truman Veterans Hospital at Columbia where he had been a patient for ten days. Mr. Giesing was born June 16, 1926, at Chamois, the son of Edward and Jane Townley Giesing. He was married to Fern Tripp, who survives. Other survivors include 8 sons, Kenneth of Holts Summit, William of Henley, Robert serving with the U. S. Marines in Japan, Norbert, William Jr., Leslie, Henry, and Eddie Giesing, all of the home. Six daughters, Mrs. Alice Gardner, Jefferson City; Mrs. Judy Gibbs, Little Hockings, Ohio, Mrs. Ann Grothoff, Hazelwood, Mrs. Jane Bay, Holts Summit; Mrs. Juanita Palmer, state of California, and Miss Kay Giesing of the home. While with the SSND, she served as an elementary school teacher and principal in Illinois, Iowa, Texas and Louisiana. After leaving the SSND, she taught at Cole R-II, Marceline and St. George in Linn. Following her retirement, she worked in hospice and companion care.
On July 10, 1972 Martha was united in marriage to Norbert Walter Giesing, who preceded her in death on December 15, 1982.
She was a member of St. Martins Catholic Church, the Missouri State Teachers Association, AARP, the 50 + Club and the National Federation of the Blind.
Martha is survived by three sisters: Laverne Tyree, Ruth Rockers and Marcella Crocker all of Jefferson City; two brothers: Clarence W. Rockers and wife Juliann of Centertown, Arthur Rockers and wife Judy of St. Martins; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Rockers; two stepsons: Norbert Giesing, Jr. and wife Pat, Sam Giesing; two stepdaughters: Carol Coulter and husband Eugene, Theresa Palmer and husband Terry; six step grandchildren, one step great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard R. Rockers; one sister, Dolores D. Hentges; and two brothers-in-law, Ralph Hentges and Freddie Crocker.
Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the St. Martins Catholic Church, where Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Fr. He was born on July 9, 1930, in Osage County, the son of Edward Antone and Velma Tilly Weissenbach Epple.
He was married on Feb 14, 1953, in Morrison, to Veneta Mae Nolte, who preceded him in death. He was married on July 21, 1992, in Lake Ozark, to Nancy Ann Daniel, who survives at the home.
Mr. Epple was a 1948 graduate of Hermann High School, and attended Central Missouri State University.
At the age of 18, he taught school one year in a one room school, then returned to college. After completing his education, he taught school two years in Drake and one year in Gasconade.
He worked for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers on a riverboat the summer of 1953. He then worked three years for the Missouri Department of Transportation followed by six years at DeLongÂ's, Inc.
In 1960 he began a 32 year career with the Missouri Highway Department, retiring as senior structural engineer in 1990. After retiring, he was a bridge inspector for S & V Engineering and delivered computer systems for CSPI over much of the United States.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Jefferson City and also attended Community Christian Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and previously held the position of Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator; volunteered for the American Red Cross, Samaritan Center, and Habitat For Humanity.
Other survivors include three sons and their wives, Gus and Vickie Epple, Bradford and Sharon Epple, and Tracy and Laurie Epple, all of Jefferson City; one step-son, Bryan Daniel of East Dubuque, Ill.; two step-daughters and their husbands, Kelly and Cole Humphreys, Holts Summit; and Marty and Jeff Powell, Jefferson City; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandsons; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Gail and Goldie Epple, Jefferson City, and Dennis Epple, Morrison; and one sister and brother-in-law, Berniece and Herb Boeckmann, Linn.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Kay Epple.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Jefferson City with the Rev. Frank A. Bussman officiating and Rev. David Avery assisting. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Jefferson City.

Betty worked for the State of Missouri for thirty-five years including the Department of Revenue and Labor and Industrial Relations. Betty worked for the Missouri Dept. of Transportation for twenty-eight years in the Central Office Division of Survey and Plans; Internal Review, Audits and Systems; Personnel; Equipment and Procurement and when she retired in 1996, was the Administrative Secretary to the Commission. She was the engineer and founder of the Care Leave Program.
She was an avid Cardinal fan and loved to collect antiques and go to flea markets. She was a talented baker and enjoyed cooking for her family. Her favorite saying was “Life is only as difficult as you make it”.
No one fits the definition of love found in 1 Corinthians 13 more than Betty. Betty was patient, Betty was kind. She did not envy; she did not boast; she was not proud. She was never rude; she was not self-seeking. She was not easily angered, and she kept no record of wrongs. Betty did not delight in evil, but rejoiced with the truth. She always protected her family and friends, always trusted in the Lord and others, always hoped, and always persevered. To all who knew her, Betty was love.
Survivors include: her husband of fifty-two years, Jimmie Lynes; one daughter, Karla Hefele and her husband Mike of Fenton, Mo.; two grandchildren, Madeline Hefele and Evan Hefele; niece, Debbie Adrian and her husband Gary of Jefferson City, Mo.; her sister, Mary Alice St. Charles of the state of California; three great nieces, Terra Adrian, Carlie Adrian and Jenna Lueckenhoff and her husband Kyle.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alice and Harry Starke; her sister, Bonnie Loveall; her brothers, Donald Starke and Junior Starke.

Betty worked for the Missouri Dept. of Transportation for twenty-eight years in the Central Office Division of Survey and Plans; Internal Review, Audits and Systems; Personnel; Equipment and Procurement and when she retired in 1996, was the Administrative Secretary to the Commission. She was the engineer and founder of the Care Leave Program.
She was an avid Cardinal fan and loved to collect antiques and go to flea markets. She was a talented baker and enjoyed cooking for her family. Her favorite saying was “Life is only as difficult as you make it”.
No one fits the definition of love found in 1 Corinthians 13 more than Betty. Betty was patient, Betty was kind. She did not envy; she did not boast; she was not proud. She was never rude; she was not self-seeking. She was not easily angered, and she kept no record of wrongs. Betty did not delight in evil, but rejoiced with the truth. She always protected her family and friends, always trusted in the Lord and others, always hoped, and always persevered. To all who knew her, Betty was love.
Survivors include: her husband of fifty-two years, Jimmie Lynes; one daughter, Karla Hefele and her husband Mike of Fenton, Mo.; two grandchildren, Madeline Hefele and Evan Hefele; niece, Debbie Adrian and her husband Gary of Jefferson City, Mo.; her sister, Mary Alice St. Charles of the state of California; three great nieces, Terra Adrian, Carlie Adrian and Jenna Lueckenhoff and her husband Kyle.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alice and Harry Starke; her sister, Bonnie Loveall; her brothers, Donald Starke and Junior Starke.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Monday, June 6, 2011 with a prayer service to be conducted at 3:30 PM in the Freeman Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 7, 2011 in the Freeman Chapel. Graveside services and interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Boone County, Missouri.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Jefferson City to assist with their expansion plans.

Dale loved woodworking and could fix anything; he was "Mr. Fixit." He was a very skilled letter writer and story teller.

Melvin Lamb, 34 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lamb, Aud, was accidentally killed in an explosion Monday, September 4, 1967 while working as a crane operator for Sheffield Steel in Kansas City. The explosion happened at 6:30 PM. He was in the crane cab 80 feet above the slag pot. The explosion blew the cap apart and started a small fire. Workers said Lamb accidentally dumped 2,000 pounds of wet material into a hot, open-top electric furnace, causing the explosion.
He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Cortvrient, and eight small children; his parents; six brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, September 7, 1967 in Kansas City.

Funeral services for Melvin M. Lamb, 34, of 1425 East Mechanic Avenue, Independence, Mo. were held Thursday, September 7, 1967 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Independence. Burial was in the Mount St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mr. Lamb, a crane operator in the electric furnace division of Armco Steel Corp., was killed Monday evening, September 4, 1967 when a slag pot exploded beneath an overhead crane.
He was born April 19, 1933 in Osage County, the son of J. Earl and Hada Mantle Lamb near Aud, Missouri before moving to Independence 15 years ago. Mr. Lamb had been an employee of Armco 5 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Independence. Mr. Lamb graduated from the Chamois High School in 1951 and on April 25, 1953, he was married to Miss Dorothy Cortvrient, daughter of Mrs. Hilda Cortvrient and the late John Cortvrient at Rich Fountain.
Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Jean M., Sharon A. and Wanda S. and five sons, Michael W., Roger A., Melvin M., Jeffrey E., and Robert J., all of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl J. Lamb, Star Route, Chamois; four sisters, Sister Mary John, Springfield, Ill.; Sister Jane Marie, Decatur, Ill.; Sister Mary Jamesine, Sheboygan, Wisconsin; and Mrs. Esther A. He was born November 10, 1984, at Columbia, Mo., the son of William Edward and Yvonne Marie Weavers Giesing Jr. He was a graduate of Blair Oaks High School and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, Mo. He had been employed in general construction work. He had been active with the Jefferson City Police Explorer Club, a volunteer for the Taos Fire Department, and had been a storm spotter for the weather reporters. Jon loved fishing and hunting and working on cars and being a storm watcher.
Survivors include: his parents, two brothers, William E. Giesing IV, and Thomas Giesing; one sister, Joyce Giesing, all of Jefferson City, Mo.; his paternal grandmother, Fern Giesing; his maternal grandparents, Jim and Melba Weavers, all of Jefferson City; one nephew, Jayden Sipi and uncle, Greg Weavers. Other survivors who will miss him are Nichole Bussone, Aiden Weavers, Sondra Sipi and Patrick, Nick, Matthew, Amy, Ryan, Benney, Amanda Weavers, Trisen, Noah Weavers; his aunts, uncles and other cousins.
