General Notes: Ella Otten, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Otten of Moselle, MO, was born in that little town on July 1, 1920 and passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Washington, MO Friday February 9 at 5:00 a.m., having reached the age of 13 years, 7 months and 8 days. She was a student in St. Mary's Catholic school at Moselle and was to have graduated from the eighth grade this spring. About two weeks before her death, she became ill and was taken to the hospital where she underwent an operation. However, it did not prove of benefit to her and although everything in medical aid was used, Our Heavenly Father called her to her Eternal Home. Since the Sunday previous to her death, the child was resigned to the Will of God and said she knew she was not going to get well and told members of the family she was not afraid to die. That her little soul may rest in peace, was the prayer offered in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at churches in this vicinity last Sunday. Funeral services were held by Father Meler of St. Mary's church in Moselle Monday morning at 9:00 o'clock, with interment in the church cemetery.
Besides her parents, she is survived by four brothers, Fred, Edward, Henry and William; three sisters, Martha and Julia Otten and Mrs. Gertrude Maupin; many other relatives and a host of friends.

As a young man, he began his working career at St. Clair International Shoe Company in St. Clair, working there as a shoe cutter for 21 years. He was later employed as a carpenter for Swan Construction Company, retiring in 1975.
Bill was an outdoorsman at heart and was happiest when he was active outside. He liked to cut wood and go hunting and fishing, especially when the boys were with him. He was an outgoing, fun-loving man and always had a tale to tell. Dancing was another of his favorite pastimes and in recent years, he enjoyed riding his four-wheeler. He was an avid baseball fan and even after his sight failed him and he couldn't watch the games, he listened to them with enthusiasm.
 
William married Lucille Mary Holdmeier on 28 July 1934 in Gildehaus, Franklin County, Missouri, daughter of Joseph F. Holdmeier and Anna Francesia (Frances A. ) Kleekamp. Lucille was born on 18 August 1912 in area near Villa Ridge, Franklin County, Missouri, died on 30 December 1979 in Franklin County, Missouri at age 67, and was buried in St. Clare Catholic Cemetery, St. Clair, Franklin County, Missouri.

General Notes: Elmer J. Otten, 81, Villa Ridge, died Tuesday, November 25, 1997. Mr. Otten was born July 20, 1916, at Robertsville, the son of William Otten and wife Julia Eckelkamp Otten. He received his schooling at St. Mary's Church School and grew up in the Villa Ridge area. During WW II he served in the Army from 1941 to 1945, serving in the Western Pacific.
 
He was united in marriage to Doris Eagan November 6, 1941, at St. Mary's Church, Villa Ridge. They made their home at Villa Ridge. Mr. Otten was employed by the Ford Motor Company as an assembler until he retired in 1974. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and V.F.W.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Valley Otten; and one half-brother, Verlin Otten. Mr. Otten is survived by his wife, Doris Otten, Villa Ridge; two sons, Donald Otten and wife Linda, Granite City, Illinois, and Daniel Otten and wife Cindy, Villa Ridge; two daughters, Shirley Frankenberg and husband Tom, Washington, and Barbara Peirick and husband Tony, Union; one half-brother, James Otten, Altus, Oklahoma; one half-sister, Loretta Schrader, Barnhart; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
 
After visitation was held Thursday, November 27, at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, a Funeral Mass was held Friday, November 28, from St. Mary's Church, Villa Ridge, by Father Mike Oslance. Interment followed in the St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, Villa Ridge.
